Backyard Beekeeping

So you want to keep bees.

It’s a great way to increase productivity in your garden, support local ecosystems and it’s a big step towards having a sustainable, fruitful garden.

Becoming a backyard beekeeper isn’t as hard as you might think.  With a little training, a few bits of equipment and some time you’ll be harvesting your own honey before you know it.

Before you get started we recommend you do a course or join a bee group, we’ve got some information on our Education and CERES Bee GROUP pages but there are other providers and clubs all over Australia that you can research. There is also a lot of information on our page about becoming a backyard beekeeper

Then you just need to purchase your bees, a beehive and beekeeping equipment and get started.

We will have bee hives and nucleus hives for sale in spring – To sign up for our bee hive waiting list please sign up to the mailchimp form here.

If you have don’t have the time or don’t want to do the messy work yourself, then Benedict offers a Hive Management Service where he will regularly visit, check your bees and extract the honey for you.  You get the benefit of the bees in your own garden but with less work!  You can either buy a hive or host one of ours.

Excited about bees but live in a small apartment or rental property and can’t have your own hive?  You can join a bee group instead.
